Welcome to my photogallery
Some of these photoshows are commented (in German by now, but I am going to translate the comments for you in the next time), some are not. Therefore in the meantime please read a few short explanations below.
The Japanese Garden
The Japanese Garden in the Recreational Park Berlin-Marzahn (East Berlin) has been opened only this year, i.e. in 2003. A small but nice place to walk around, for contemplation. It is, after the Chinese Garden, the second of new garden landscapes in Marzahn, which are to introduce international garden cultures. (A third garden - a project by now - is to be an Islamic Garden.) Although both the Japanese, and the Chinese Garden represent cultures from Far East, the difference between both is obvious. While the Chinese Garden is amazing because of traditional Chinese architecture, the Japanese Garden attracts the visitor with its pure natural style: plants, water, stones. The architect of this YUSUIEN - the "Garden of the water that streams together" - is a Zen priest from Japan. The idea behind the waters that stream together and build one single stream is that real harmony can be reached only when all is united into one complete structure ...

New pictures of the Chinese Garden
Of course, when paying a visit to the Japanese Garden, I went also to the Chinese Garden again!
Berlin-Mitte (city of the former East Berlin)
A slide show, 5 seconds per picture, but you can click forward. - I used PhotoImpact 8 for making the slideshow.
Have a look!
Dussmann KulturKaufhaus
Do you love books? Next time you are in Berlin don't miss out Berlin's most beautiful bookshop KulturKaufhaus!
A walk alongside the Spree - Maerkisches Ufer
The size of the slides is 400 x 300 pixels. In case your monitor has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, I would like to suggest you to switch to full-size mode and back by pressing the F11 key. What will you see in this slideshow: Maerkisches Museum, Fischerinsel (Fishers' Island - the name stands for the almost maritime flair of this corner in Berlin, it was the place where the Berlin fishers lived), real Berlin Bears :-), Zille-Denkmal (monument to Heinrich Zille, a famous German painter and photographer who lived here), and always again the Spree ...
Hackesche Hoefe
Some of Zille's (the painter mentioned above) paintings show Berlin backyards as they were around 1900: ugly. Now these Hackeshe backyards are a real Berlin gem and attract the visitor's eye: Many little restaurants, theatres, boutiques have settled in these altogether 8 backyards. However, one backyard has not been rebuilt. You can see it here, too - a real "contrast programme". Hackesche Hoefe
Fall colours
To me the autumn is the most beautiful seasons of the year and inspired me to take snapshots of the fall colours on
photos.
The Chinese Garden in Berlin-Marzahn
Its chinese name is "Garden of the re-won moon". The Chinese Garden (opened in 2001) is located in the East of Berlin, in Marzahn, on the Landscape Park, which has an area of about 20 ha. This Landscape Park reminds of a botanical garden, but it is much wider. The landscape park has been opened in 1987 when Berlin celebrated its 750 anniversary.
10 years later, in 1997, they began to build the Chinese Garden. Made by Chinese craftsmen, gardeners, and artists who came from China to Berlin for this reason, the Chinese Garden could be opened on October 15th, 2000.
Cats
My favourite animals are cats. It is a loose collection of my own mini-lions (especially from the time when I had kittens) and some French cats who enchanted me during my holidays, all taken in 2001.
My very first photoshow is in the archive now. Pure handicraft in HTML :-). It shows photos from the Provence, where we spent wonderful holidays in 2001.
Download: Wallpapers
A good website would always offer a free download. :-) - Well, I don't know what you say about my site (hopefully you don't find it awful!), but for a start I have a virtual bunch of flowers for you :-) - taken in the Recreational Park Berlin-Marzahn. I have them on my own desktop as wallpaper and in the screensaver, too. Free Download! ;-)
By the way, do you know already that also you can create your very own screensavers? It can be done within seconds by the help of the outstanding free program IrfanView! I have made a little instruction for my German visitors on the page "We make our own screensaver!" . But as the screenshots are from the English program version, you will understand the 3 steps just by clicking the thumbnails.
